Lauren Howard is a licensed massage therapist and birth doula in the state of Kentucky. She is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association and founding board member of Motion Matters. She has a private practice called Family Bodyworks and also teaches Pregnancy Massage and Movement classes for Lexington Healing Arts Academy.
Lauren found her passion for healing during her Aikido training with sensei Ron Boyd where she was first exposed to Tai Chi and Shiatsu. She attended the Lexington Healing Arts Academy in 2001 and after graduation was offered a position in the graduate clinic. Upon completion she began her own practice. She incorporates her trainings in Cranio Sacral Therapy, Movement Re-Education, Shiatsu and Vedic Thai Massage in her practice. She became a certified baby massage instructor in 2003 and is also certified in prenatal, labor and post partum bodywork thru Kate Jordan Seminars. She also has advanced training in pediatric massage and enjoys teaching wellness classes to children ages 3 to 13 (including her own two boys!).
She offers baby massage classes, post partum awareness workshops and individual birthing prep classes through her private practice.
Previously, Lauren worked for Saint Joseph Wellness Services for five years where she provided massage, gave talks on wellness and massage and helped to coordinate wellness fairs for the hospital. She has also given talks on wellness for local colleges, businesses and physical educators. Her ultimate intention with this work is to create a safe environment for each person she touches so that they may be open to learning and healing from birth through all the stages of life.
